Contest Alert!! Win Free Books!

November 4th is a very important day. Not only is it Election Day in the US, but it happens to be the release day of the long-awaited DEMON BOUND by Meljean Brook.

!!!

I read an early incarnation of this novel and I have to say that it’s my favorite of the guardian series thus far. I started out skeptical of the hero/heroine dynamic – I mean, on one hand we have a prissy ‘cougar’ (Alice the Guardian) who hangs around with spiders and likes to scare men. On the other hand, we have the hero (Mmmm, Jake!!) who is young, brash, and too cute for words. They don’t seem like a natural match at all…and yet Meljean brings them together beautifully. I LOVED it. This installment of the Guardians series also brings a few new twists to the forefront, and this is the first book in which we have some Guardian-on-Guardian action. LONG overdue, I tells ya.

Anyhow, I digress. I’ve been squeeing about this book for a long time, and since Meljean is promoting heavily on her blog, I thought I’d interview her for mine.

Me: I could ask you the normal schtick about ‘Where you get your ideas’ or ‘What would your character be if he was a flavor of ice cream’ but let’s try a little something different. How about we start with…

Tell me something about you or your novels that should make us instantly want to read them.

Meljean Brook: All of the answers to the universe are written within.

No? Okay, how about the fact that I’m an enormous dork, and it shines through every page?

No, again? Hmm ... how about unique characterizations, epic battles between demons and Guardians, and curl-your-toes sexxoring?

Me: I happen to be a big fan of dorks and curl-your-toes sexxoring. I squeed a little over DEMON BOUND earlier, but I think more needs to be said. How about describing your book in haiku form?

Meljean:
Creepy Guardian
Whoops! Novice takes her to Hell
Now they are so fucked

Me: Now describe it in Lolcat?

Meljean:
 jake

Me: Mmmm, Jake. Oooo!!! I know. Let’s do word associations. I give you a word (or two) and you give me the first thing that comes to your mind.

Let’s start with…BOOK.
